Stratamark™ Stretch Mark Reduction

Many patients are interested in learning how to get rid of stretch marks. Stratamark™ is the first registered medical ointment to prevent stretch marks and for stretch mark reduction. Stretch marks may result from pregnancy, obesity and in some instances puberty growth spurts or steroid use. Approximately 50-90% of pregnant women will acquire stretch marks. Stretch marks commonly appear on the abdomen and breasts and less commonly on the hips, thighs and buttocks. They initially appear as slightly raised pink to purple linear bands which eventually mature to become pale, flat, finely wrinkled lines. In some cases they can cause itchiness, tenderness and pain and can also significantly affect a person’s self-esteem and self-image.

Stratamark’s silicone polymer has been adapted to address the phase of wound healing thought to be involved in the formation of stretch marks. Stratamark™ contains silicone dioxide which is not absorbed by the body, but rather sits on top of the skin to help prevent stretch marks and reduce current stretch marks. Stratamark™ softens and flattens stretch marks, reduces redness and discoloration, and relieves the itching and discomfort caused by stretch marks. Stratamark™ is safe to use during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, on children and for people with sensitive skin.
